DREAM is a student led University club that started at Queen’s University 4 years ago and have expanded into a national event for the past two years. DREAM raises money to build schools and libraries in developing countries. Since 2005, we have raised $70,000 to build 13 libraries in Nepal and India, and a computer lab in Cambodia.

Concordia University has been a partnering university since 2008. Last year, the Concordia team raised over $300 to our overall national total despite the major challenge of not able to collect donations inside the Library. This year, our national goal is to raise $25,000 to build one library and publish 10,000 local language books in India.

Your biggest responsibility will be the promotion of DREAM and its causes throughout the school year and especially during the Live-in for Literacy event. You will fill in for the campers during their classes in the day time, and spend a few evening shifts on site during the 7 day Live-in event. Also, you will spend considerable at the Live-in site per day promoting events and generating more donations for DREAM. During the school year, you will attend and volunteer at DREAM promotional events and fundraising events. You are the force which will fuel our cause, and are fundamental to the entire DREAM team.

Promotion Officer responsibilities:

• Attend weekly meetings and keep updated with the progress of various projects and events
• Attend social events for the Concordia team
• Generate awareness for DREAM through a variety of means
• Volunteer at events to generate donation
• Spend at least 1 hour promoting DREAM on the site of Live-in for Literacy during each of the seven days of LiL
• Fill in for campers when they have to attend classes

• Assist campers with daily living needs, such as ensuring they have meals.

2009: Queen’s University, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, McMaster University, Concordia University, Memorial University. Raised $20,000 to build 4 libraries in India.

2008: Queen’s University, Memorial University, Laurentian University, and University of British Columbia. Raised $20,000 to build 5 libraries in Nepal.

2007: Stauffer Library, Queen’s University, raised $11,000 towards 3 libraries in Nepal.

2006: Stauffer Library, Queen’s University, raised $6,000 towards a computer lab in Cambodia.
